Phillip Lindsay, an astrologer and long time student of the Ageless Wisdom, has given us a timely and interesting historical view of these Shamballic visitations. The book is essentially divided into three sections: The first part discusses the myth and legend of Shamballa as found in the Alice Bailey books and those of the Buddhist Kalachakra teachings. The second section, constituting the heart of the book and which I found to be the most fascinating, examined the Shamballa impacts and their effects on history. While avoiding much detail, Lindsay provides an artful synthesis of relevant information together with appropriate quotes from the Bailey material, along with his observations. As an esoteric historian myself, I found his analysis of the key dates from 1825, when we are told that the third direct connection between Shamballa and humanity took place, and other events such as the founding of the Theosophical Society, the emerging of the New Group of World Servers, and the turning point of World War II, through to the most recent Wesak festival to be most interesting and helpful. The final chapters deal with certain astrological considerations related to Shamballa. The book is richly illustrated with astrological charts, and other tabulations, many of which are found in the thirty pages of appendices near the back of the book. There is also a very good glossary of key terms. Perhaps the real value of beautifully produced little book is a reference source for information on Shamballa.
